I like the interaction by answering the questions and how detailed the teacher taught and revised our homework. I liked the interactions and the in meeting chat during the meet. It improved my writing analysis.

- Ziyue, age 13- Minnesota

This class was pretty nice. There were recordings when you missed class, you got to anonymously contribute to the class discussion, you didn’t have to speak out loud. It was really nice! It helped me realize that my writing style can be repetitive, how to look deeper into a character's psychological development, and just generally showed me how to write a good analysis.

- Emily, age 12- Pennsylvania

[The class] helped me think through the book's meaning instead of just blowing through the book, and I enjoyed learning about connotations and answering questions to help think deeper. [Teacher name] is a good instructor and gives questions that make sense and helps me think into the deeper sense of the book.

- Melody, age 9- Arizona

The class was very thorough and well planned. My child felt as if she learned a lot more than from school. The teacher is great, very kind, and went out of her way to make sure my child got detailed feedback in her assignments. My child also loved the book that was chosen. I appreciate the class’s focus on the psychology of characters, it was very different from what schools teach about book analysis. We look forward to Lightwave’s next classes.

Writing Composition Reviews

The class allowed access for students to learn two incredibly important factors of writing, that would greatly benefit them in the future. The class also explained how to write descriptively as well as informative, which was good. The class was helpful toward my reading, as it allowed to to write descriptively as well as learn many new strategies and ways of writing, greatly boosting my reading skills. The class was helpful, with many learning materials such as the pear deck and many more. This allowed students to learn quickly, as well as have access to many resources.

- Harvey, age 12- New York

I learned how to start a personal narrative with a captivating line and how to make my writing flow better. I liked answering the questions on pear deck. The teacher responded to most of my emails very quickly and helped give me a lot of ideas and inspiration for both pieces of writing!

- Avika, age 10- Minnesota

I appreciate [Instructor]'s dedication to the project. Her promptness, subject knowledge, and maturity in interactions is appreciable. I think [my daughter] learned about the significance of fluidity and the ability to incorporate her own style while following the required format for a piece of writing.

- Anjali, Parent- Minnesota

My child feels she learned far more than in school in this class. The teacher is great and she is very good at writing, and extremely knowledgeable. She always had new ideas for my kid when he asked for help, and I saw a huge improvement when reading his first assignment compared to his last one. He will definitely be better in his English class this school year because of this course. Thank you!

[Instructor] teaches very detailedly and gives very specific feedback. She is relaxed and a very nice person, she teaches a little more interestingly than my ELA teacher.

- Ziyue, age 13- Minnesota

[Instructor name] is very professional. She taught students a lot about how to emphasize the story. She gave the feedback immediately. My son learned how to understand the connotations of story. [Instructor name] is an excellent instructor. My son said she is better than his ELA teacher at school. She responded quickly. She has great knowledge. And she helped my son to improve his reading. I wish my son the opportunity to continue learning from [Instructor name].

- Qingmei, Parent- Minnesota

[Instructor name] was a good instructor. She was very friendly and explained every concept well, and I always understood what she was trying to say. I liked the part of class where she had us type paragraphs into a slideshow instead of making us talk in front of class. It made me more comfortable with sharing my ideas.

- Sophia, age 12- Massachusetts

[Instructor name] was very nice, her comments on my assignments didn’t feel like she was scolding me, not like some of my teachers at school. She would tell you where you did well and where you could improve. Plus she replies to emails fairly quickly. I found that very helpful considering sometimes when people don’t reply early enough, you won’t have the time to fix something because they replied too late.

- Emily, age 12- Pennsylvania

Our instructor, [Instructor name] gave lots of feedback, clearly working to help us improve and learn how to do better. The instructor also made sure to grade our work quickly as well as respond to our messages asking for help. She really helped with my understanding of my work and was always willing to give more explanation. She is also very knowledgeable, and had many interesting answers to questions.

- Harvey, age 12- New York

[Instructor name] is an excellent instructor. She taught students how to write several topic passages, it was very helpful for my son. When my son emailed her questions, she answered very quick and detailed. She also wrote a bunch of suggestions for my questions about my son’s writing. My son learned many new things from her, like how to write a view as the third person and to write in a good structure for a personal composition. We are waiting for the next class session.

- Xuan, Parent- Texas

[Instructor name], you are a good instructor. Thank you for your time and effort. I liked how you were sharp and real with your critique. I am sure [student name] learned some important tips that will come in handy in her future writing work. I think she missed having students of her age in the group. I felt that she also struggled with adhering to the required format but that is part of the learning process. If you teach next summer too, I will encourage her to join your class again. Thank you!
